The Dakota Conflict Tour August 14th, 2010

Visit the final resting places of some of the primary participants of the most formative events in our early state history. Hear stories of deceit and disappointment, heartbreak and heroism of people pushed to the breaking point while contending with monumental cultural changes. Highlights will include; examinations of the Treaties of 1851 and the consequences for the Dakota people, the Battles at Ft. Ridgely, New Ulm and Birch Coulee, along with heroic efforts of the Peace Indians to restore order and save lives, and the final outcomes.
There is no fee to attend. This is a 2 hour walking tour on uneven ground. Wear comfortable shoes and bring your own water.
